Mission Re-Imagined. July 23-25, 2010
In an age of sound bytes and spin, what is mission?
When the dominant Christian voices alienate as many as they welcome, who is a missionary?
If home is a marketplace for beliefs, and poverty a local issue, where is the mission field?
This year, HopeStreet partners with Chapel by the Sea in presenting their third Future Dimensions conference, Mission Re-imagined: the challenge of mission in an emerging century. The conference has a strong focus on mission work in local and urban settings, often focused towards people groups who have been excluded from traditional church ministries.

Conference Speakers
Keynote: Fr. Peter Kennedy
Fr. Kennedy made national headlines last year when he was forced to leave his role as priest of St Mary’s church in Brisbane. He continues to pastor his thriving congregation of over 1000 people at “St Mary’s in Exile”, a gathering at a local Trades hall (article, pictures and editorial).
Rev Gordon Bradbery
Church authorities have a mind to move him out from the Wollongong Uniting Church Mission, but the congregation and community there are resisting. Gordon has been long involved in creative community missional work and has established a powerful presence for the church in that city.
Penny Davis
Penny Davis is a Ministry Leader at CRAVE MCC in Paddington, she is being Ordained on July 25th 2010 and will take up a role at CRAVE as a Pastor working with their senior pastor Karl Hand. CRAVE is a Dynamic, Inclusive and progressive Christian faith community.

Rev Graham Long
Nationally recognised figure bringing new life to the Wayside Chapel (Uniting Church), long established with cutting edge community mission work. He is leading new mission outreach from that place and is also in the process of rebuilding the premises so as to better do mission.

Captain Robbin Moulds
Robbin heads the bustling and diverse Street Level mission in Surry Hills. It’s an always changing, always growing amalgam of church, community centre, discount supermarket, training institution and church. Robbin and her husband Paul were the subject of the award winning “Oasis” documentary about youth homelessness in Sydney.

Fr David Smith aka ‘the fighting father’
Fighting in church? Standing in solidarity with a Muslim cleric? Father Dave’s ministry at Holy Trinity Dulwich Hill is anything but your usual suburban Anglican church.
